A Typical Day with A Language Tutor

Our language tutor is such a nice guy... he is very patient, which right now he needs a lot of!

He is also very helpful... For example, one day last week, Franklin asked him where we could go to get a new lock for our door.  Well, that would have been a simple task in the States... go to a hardware store, buy a lock, come home and change it, right?  Not so much here... Our tutor said that he would personally take us after our session, which we thought would be great!  What he meant was we could start by buying him an early lunch at "Kentucky" (aka Kentucky Fried Chicken); sit around and talk for about an hour; then go down back alleys to find one of his friends who sells locks; buy the lock; stop somewhere in the middle of the afternoon to get him a snack; sit and talk some more; until we finally tell him we have to be home to get Alex off the bus!  I don't think that was rude after spending about five hours with him, do you?

Everything just takes longer to do here... from cleaning, to cooking, to spending time with your language tutor to buy a lock!  It's all just a typical day for us now... and you know what?  We're beginning to enjoy the slower pace of life from what we were used to!
