Well, as I write this... my sweet, little boy is working on writing sentences and solving math problems at my dining room table in his Transformer pajamas! It is quite cute...
However, rumor has it, that they won't go back to school until the end of February! Yes, you read correctly... don't tell your kids about Alex's "winter break"... they will be wanting to move to Africa :o)
Before they start packing their bags though... we're not getting a break! The school has got this all figured out... we will wake up each day, log on to the website, gather all of his assignments, and try to get them done and submitted by 3:00. If you all knew how slow Alex was... and throw in some Arabic lessons for me... we'll be lucky to get them turned in by February :o)
My heart goes out to all of you homeschooling moms right now... many of you are my dear friends and I love you and I'm thinking about you!! It had been my heart's desire to teach Alex; however, we had decided that the best thing for both of us right now, culturally and for me to progress in Arabic, was to have him in school this year. I am also very grateful for those of you who love our children and teach them everyday! We very much miss Alex's teacher right now :o) He loves her and she has made his adjustment so much easier by being a wonderful, patient teacher. It takes a special person with a beautiful heart to do both, teach in the school system or homeschool, and I have realized over the past few days how we can take either one for granted... how I can easily take Alex's teacher for granted ~ so Thank You!!
It is a blessing to have Alex home and we are having fun; but I've quickly realized that we will need to have some sort of a "schedule"... if that even exists in Africa, to get our work done! He will have a few days off, so that will be good, to break us in before we start back in December for the long haul :o)
I can already tell that I'm going to need a nap... and some chocolate!
