Our First African Cake!

Well, not exactly... more like Funfetti Cake :o)

We invited some new friends over to celebrate our first three weeks here and decided to brave the kitchen for our first "major" meal. We've cooked very simple things a few times and enjoyed eating mostly vegetables from the market; however, we went all out this evening!  We "lit" the stove and everything...
(In case you're wondering why we've kept things simple... look at the apartment pictures to refresh your memory of our kitchen :o)  Coming from what we had... it's a little overwhelming to be in there and will take some getting used to ~ not bad, just different!)
Since this family has gone out of their way to make our transition a lot easier, we decided to share our funfetti with them!  That is a sacrifice these days :o)
The funny part is... the stove only has two settings on it ~ a big flame and a smaller flame :o) So, we went towards the smaller one and even though it took a long time to bake... we didn't burn it! YEAH! It was delicious! Next time, I'll try to make the famous coconut cake since the holidays are around the corner... that should be an interesting task!

Oh... they had face painting at Alex's school today... so he really has had a fun day!

RRROOOAAARRR!!!
