It's truly hard to believe we've been here a month! As we sat eating dinner together tonight, we decided it would be fun to remember this milestone with a few reflections of what each of us miss... and what each of us enjoy as part of our new home!
We all agreed that nothing could replace the love of family and friends and you truly miss them when you're thousands of miles apart!
To no surprise, most of you would agree, that this time of year Franklin would miss hunting with his friends! He also misses driving around and feeling comfortable in his own truck. Yet, he has developed a fondness for eating kofta (a seasoned meat you would have in a kabob) and opening the windows to enjoy the cool breeze.
Also, not a surprise, Rachel misses Chick-fil-A and getting cherry limeades at Sonic!! Who wouldn't, right? She also misses fall in NC and her friends, hanging out with them and laughing with them! Rachel has decided that having any type of food delivered to the apartment when you just can't handle cooking that evening is wonderful!! Also, buying fresh vegetables and fruit at the markets for practically nothing has been great.
Now, we couldn't contain Alex and all that he missed and now loved! He thought this was a lot of fun... so he started with what he missed. The list included ~ his friends from church; our cats we left behind, Maya and Selah; his two favorite beaches, the Lighthouse and Myrtle Beach; and of course, Monkey Joe's!! To our delight; however, he listed just as many fun, new things like ~ a new school and getting to have a picnic outside everyday for lunch; new friends; the park; "dragon balls" (they're actually chicken nuggets from the Chinese restaurant; but we won't tell him that!); zucchini the way Daddy cooks it; fresh pita bread; fresh pineapple juice; and, of course, seeing a camel in real life!!
We are beginning to settle into our new life and in time, all will become familiar around us. Until then, know that we love and miss you all and will one day look forward to seeing you again!
